　View Summary

シリコンバレーから生まれたインターネットは、世の中を大きく変えた。しかし、未
だ小画面とキーボードから抜け出せない、高齢者もキーボードに合わせなくてはなら
ない、「人が技術に合わせなくてはならない社会」であるように思われる。
一方、等身大の高画質・大画面での臨場感あふれるFace-to-Face コミュニケーション
が可能になれば、老人ホームのご両親が離れた家族の暖かさに包まれる。それは、現
行のエレクトロニクス技術をベースとするインターネットの延長では達成しえない別
世界である。その実現のためにはディスプレイや端末までギガビットを超える高速伝
送を張り巡らす必要がある。
そのキーイノベーションであるフォトニクスポリマーの最前線を紹介する。
