企画セッション「データ科学としての天文学」の一般講演（講演要旨集電子版Z109b）．活動銀河核のうち，ジェットが観測者の方向を向き，ビーミング効果によってジェットからの放射が卓越して観測される天体はブレーザーとよばれる．我々は，2次元平面に時間軸を加えた3次元空間内で天体の偏光変動を
チューブとして可視化するツールTimeTubesを開発した．我々は広島大学かなた望遠鏡が取得したブレーザーの偏光データにこのツールを用いた．その結果，偏光角の回転，特に中心が原点から外れた回転現象やフレアの偏光角が特定の範囲に偏る傾向などが認識しやすくなることを確認した．特にブレーザーPKS 1749 + 096 では，偏光角の回転とフレア極大の偏光角の偏りが同時に見られ，さらにフレアの偏光角が電波ジェットの方向に平行であることがわかった．

We introduce our two recent works on type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) based on high-dimensional data-driven techniques.
In the second work, we used a visual analytics tool for the
asymmetric biclustering method to find both a good set of variables and samples at the same time. Using 14 variables and 132 samples, we found that SNe Ia can be divided into two categories by the expansion velocity of ejecta. In addition, the two sub-groups can be characterized by the strength of silicon lines. this example demonstrates that the high-dimensional data-driven approach is useful
for the big-data era of supernovae.

Optical polarization provides important clues to the magnetic field in blazar jets. It is easy to find intriguing features in the time-series data of the polarization degree (PD) and position angle (PA). On the
other hand, the trajectory of the object on the Stokes QU plane becomes essential when the object has multiple components of polarization. In this case, ironically, the more data we have, the more difficult it is to gain any knowledge from it. Here, we introduce TimeTubes, a new visualization scheme to explore the time-series of
polarization observed in blazars. We used TimeTubes for our data taken by the Kanata telescope between 2008-2014. We found that this tool facilitates the recognition of the patterns in blazar variations. We show some demonstrations of TimeTubes in our presentation.

Many-to-many parallel coordinate plots enable users to grasp at a time correlations between arbitrary pairs of dimensions in a given multi-dimensional dataset. However, the more pairs of dimensions we visualize, the smaller area for displaying each of the pairs becomes. This problem makes it difficult for the users to discover specific highlycorrelated pairs in the datasets. This poster presented our attempt to make the many-to-many parallel coordinate plots scalable by biclustering the underlying dataset in terms of data samples and dimensions asymmetrically with different methods. The effectiveness of this approach was empirically proven through applications of the current prototype system to several practical datasets.

In this panel, we discussed the current status and the future challenges of human resource development efforts in the digital content field in Asian countries. The panel invited representatives from three Asian regions, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan, and the ACM SIGGRAPH organization. The discussion focused on the digital content industry, digital content development and engineering education, including computer graphics, interactive techniques, animation and other visual arts. This panel discussion was organized jointly by the Computer Graphic Arts Society (CG-ARTS) and the SIGGRAPH Asia 2015 Symposium on Education.
