In increasing communication traffic and diversifying services, progress of photonic networks and nodes are required. As a solution to that, Smart Photonic Networking (SPN) has been proposed. In the SPN, A new layer 2 specialized for transport and correspond to wide area and multi-domains is required, that is called Photonic Layer 2. For the Photonic Layer 2, it is required to simplify routing by integrating multi-domains and address aggregation. Therefore, it is necessary to construct a new address structure and resolve address without using broadcast. In this paper, we report the result of the address structure design for supporting multi-domains in the Photonic Layer 2.

近年のIoT(Internet of Things)の普及により, IoTデバイスの数が急激に増加している. その結果IoTサービスの処理負荷が増加している. 従来のIoTはシステムが垂直統合されており, 高い技術力とコストを必要としていた. また, 従来のIoTプラットフォームではデータセンタの処理負荷が膨大であり, リアルタイム性に欠けるという問題がある. そこで, 我々は新たに高いスケーラビリティと柔軟性を持つ水平統合型のIoTプラットフォームを提案する. 提案するIoTプラットフォーム上ではHGW(Home Gateway)がIoTサービスプログラムであるバンドルをライブマイグレーションし, 処理負荷分散を行う. ライブマイグレーションを行う際にIoTデバイスとバンドル間の遅延を小さくするために, ネットワーク距離が近いHGWを探索する手法が必要である.

In this paper, a data-center network (DCN) system that distinguishes Hadoop job types and allocates optical/electrical circuits to data flows depending on the types automatically is proposed. The proposed system calculates the predicted shuffle value (PSV) of the Hadoop job and determines which type of flow is allocated by comparing the PSV and the threshold value. The PSV can be calculated from a part of the input data based on the shuffle ratio, which is known to have a relationship to the heaviness of the shuffle phase of the Hadoop job. The threshold of PSV can be dynamically changed according to the network load condition to exploit the optical circuit efficiently. By orchestrating the DCN and the Hadoop system, the proposed system achieves the reduction of power consumption. In this study, the orchestration part of the proposed DCN system is implemented and the feasibility of switching data flows between optical and electrical circuits is verified.

This paper describes an experiment carried out to demonstrate robustness and trustworthiness of an orchestrated two-layer network test-bed (PROnet). A Robotic Operating System Industrial (ROS-I) distributed application makes use of end-to-end flow services offered by PROnet. The PROnet Orchestrator is used to provision reliable end-to-end Ethernet flows to support the ROS-I application required data exchange. For maximum reliability, the Orchestrator provisions network resource redundancy at both layers, i.e., Ethernet and optical. Experimental results show that the robotic application is not interrupted by a fiber outage.

In the smart grid, which is a new generation grid integrated with bidirectional communication and advanced information technology, it is supposed that the number of energy suppliers will increase because many renewable resources will be connected to the grid. The increase in the number of suppliers that use renewable energy resources introduces new challenges in scheduling and dispatching controllable resources to control the load of the power grid in the system. By using the pricing method that maximizes social welfare, consumers/suppliers can determine the optimal power consumption/generation that maximizes own welfare. However, when a forecast error of renewable energy output occurs, the gap between the total power consumption and generation causes unless consumers decrease power consumption from the optimal consumption. Decreasing consumers' power consumption might lower their utility.

In wide area Layer 2 (L2) networks, there is a problem that broadcast packets for address resolution fill up link capacities. As a result, address resolution using Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), which uses broadcasts, cannot be used in wide area L2 networks. A conventional research has proposed an architecture using Distributed Hash Table (DHT) and ARP cache for reducing broadcasts. However, since this architecture uses simple Least Recently Used (LRU) method for caching, some packets may be discarded because of continuous cache misses which require long address resolution response time. Therefore, we propose a cache retention time change method considering address resolution response time. In addition, we also propose cache insertion position determination methods based on several ideas. Finally, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Recently, the energy consumption in data centers is increasing. Introducing optical circuit to the inter-rack communication is considered as an effective solution. The authors are working on the research and development of the High-speed Optical Layer 1 Switch system for Time slot switching based optical data center networks (HOLST). We focused on Plomb Lanthanum Zirconate Titanate (PLZT) optical switch that performs nano seconds switching time. In this paper, several ideas on how to connect PLZT optical switches and Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) optical switches, the composing modules of the HOLST, are proposed to design network architecture and evaluated in order to compare and consider power saving effect. The result of the numerical simulation shows that the proposal architecture achieves 50% energy consumption reduction than the conventional architecture.

Expected Capacity Guaranteed Routing Method based on Failure Probability of Links

In a high-speed backbone network, the failure of a network link may cause large data losses, so it is necessary to reserve spare network resources for faster recovery. The conventional protection methods to reserve backup routes do not consider the failure probability of each network link, so the same amount of network resources for the backup route are needed regardless of the failure probability of network links. This leads a decrease in the number of connections that can be accepted into the network. This paper proposes a routing and capacity allocation method that guarantees the expected value of allocated capacity. We formulate a mixed integer liner programming model for the proposed method. We conduct simulations to study the advantage of the expected capacity guaranteed routing over the conventional routing method in terms of bandwidth blocking probability. The results show that the proposed method reduces the bandwidth blocking probability to about 1/3 as compared to that of the conventional path protection method.

In order to respond to the rapidly increasing traffic and the diversification of communication services in recent years, the Photonic Layer 2 (L2) network attracts attention. The aim of the photonic L2 network is providing various services on a common photonic L2 with high-speed transmission by light paths. A wide area L2 network assuming a carrier network capable of accommodating one million users is considered as one of the services provided by the photonic L2 network. In wide area L2 networks, however, there is a problems that broadcast packets for Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) fill up link capacities due to the enormous number of users and packet losses due to buffer overflow by accumulation of long address resolution time. In this paper, we propose hierarchical address resolution architecture with Distributed Hash Table (DHT) in wide area L2 network to reduce broadcast, and caching method which based on the retention time to reduce address resolution time in the proposed architecture.

This paper introduces the remote control of an industrial robot performing surface blending by using SDN-based optical transport networks. The SDN orchestrator enables the industrial robot located on the production floor and the robot control system located in the cloud/edge network to jointly and successfully carry out an unstructured task while minimizing both data transfer latency and volume across the transport network. Finally, the paper shows experimental validation of the proposed system.

次世代光メトロ・アクセス統合型ネットワーク「エラスティックλアグリゲーションネットワーク（EλAN）」が提案されている. EλANにおいて大規模災害時の接続性を確保するために, アクティブ型のOptical Distribution Network (ODN)を活用し, 通信途絶に陥ったOptical Network Unit (ONU)が1台以上のRemote ONU (R-ONU)を経由して生存Optical Line Terminal (OLT)まで通信を確立する光アドホック通信が提案されている. 本稿では, R-ONUが隣接ONU群内のR-ONUを発見する際のルーチング手法に関して検討を行う.

In recent years large-scale parallel distributed processing by clustering such as Hadoop is executed frequently in the data center. Depending on the job(processing content), the network load is large and an increase in power consumption is regarded as a problem. The authors are working on the reserch and have found a discriminate jobs with such a heavy network load. With using it, we develop the thereby reducing the power consumption Data Center Network. In this paper, we describe the method of determining the network load and the operation method of the proposed architecture, and then evaluated the proposed architecture in terms of power comsumption. The result of the experiment shows that the proposed architecture achieves drastically higher energy consumption reduction than it was.

Wavelength Reservation Method for Optical Ad Hoc Networking in the Elastic Lambda Aggregation Network

In the elastic lambda aggregation network (EλAN), access paths are flexibly reconfigured by the active optical distribution network (ODN) when a network failure occurs. It is expected that an optical line terminal (OLT) of another central office (CO) recovers the connectivity of optical network units (ONU). The optical ad hoc networking has been proposed as a method to overcome the transmission distance limitation between the OLT and the ONU in the case of a large-scale disaster in which a large number of COs are out of service. In this paper, we propose the wavelength reservation method to realize the optical ad hoc networking. By computer simulation, the optical ad hoc networking applying the proposed wavelength selection method achieves ONU group rescue rate higher than 20% the restoration method when the failure rate of the network device is 40%.
