In order to reduce the energy consumption of the network, we introduce a concept that realizes a low power consumption network by aggregating traffic into specific links and powering off interfaces of routers/switches that do not convey traffic. Conventionally, a calculation method to derive an optimum topology by examining all combinations of link ON/OFF patterns was proposed. However, it is time consuming and is unsuitable for large networks. In this paper, we propose a network topology calculation method that can derive an optimal power consumption network within practical time. By iterating the process of powering off one or two links in a heuristic manner, an optimal power consumption topology can be constructed. By computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed scheme is effective from several perspectives.

広域イーサネット網における広帯域経路を実現する手段の一つとして, 並列伝送技術が挙げられる[1].エンドノード間で複数のVLANパスを確立した後, フロー内の各フレームに対してVLAN IDをラウンドロビンで付与し, 対応するVLANパスに転送することで, フローの使用可能帯域上限を全リンク帯域にすることが可能である.複数パス経路のアグリゲーションにより仮想的な大容量データ伝送を実現する次世代広域イーサネットにおいて, 経路間での遅延差を考慮した複数パス経路の同時発見を実現するには, 拡張イーサネットフレームフラッディング手法に基づいた経路発見手法が有効である. 本稿では, 複数経路における経路情報測定のソフトウェアスイッチであるClickへの実装方法を報告する.

We study a novel optical access network with active optical switches, called ActiON (Active Optical Network), as a next generation access network to replace PON (Passive Optical Network). In this paper, we focus on the reliability of optical access networks and propose a protection scheme for ActiON by connecting two ActiON trees. Finally we discuss the availability and the component cost of the proposed architecture.

Currently, bandwidth allocation of VLAN path in Wide Area Ethernet depends on link bandwidth. Aggregation of multiple end-to-end paths is effective to avoid this limit. This paper proposes multiple independent paths discovering method using extended Ethernet frame flooding technique in next generation Wide Area Ethernet which virtually enables high capacity transmission by aggregating multiple paths. Implementing the algorithm to software switches and evaluates the delay of discovered multiple paths.

With the appearance of the cloud network, high speed data communication among data centers is necessary. However, because the data is transmitted through the Internet, network bandwidth is not enough. To construct large bandwidth WAN at low cost, we propose an Intelligent Cloud Network. In the Intelligent Cloud Network, data delivered with parallel transmission and lower cost private lines that are lower bandwidth are applied as multiple routes. In this paper, we propose parallel transmission system. In this system, parallel routes are set up with GMPLS. The proposed system is implemented on the software switch to evaluate parallel transmission.

Increasing the energy consumption is one of main concern of our recent society. To reduce the environmental load and solve the energy consuming problem, we have to take advantage of highly developed communication technology. This paper focuses on a new control network architecture for power grids. Conventional power grid is optimized for large power plant model, but a new type of power grid, which is called smart grid, have to be optimized for small power source such as solar power or wind power. In this situation, optimization mechanism of total power consumption by controlling the grid is required. In this paper, inter-zone optimization, which is based on decentralized control, and inter-area optimization, which is based on centralized control are proposed to utilize the energy in the grid.

New energy efficient network design algorithm and tool for low power consumption named MIDORI is proposed. Network is used minimum set of nodes and links which can transfer all communication traffic under QoS restriction. QoS restrictions are included hop limit, bandwidth limit reliability and stability. Set-covered problem is applied to this algorithm and all links are modeled as “1” for on and “0” for off. To solve the optimum network configuration, parallel data flow type reconfigurable processer, DAPDNA is applied to solve this problem efficiently. The processor automatically produces the node/link set and confirms traffic QoS requirements. This algorithm can achieve optimum network resources. According to our evaluation results, it can achieve more than 25 % higher efficient than conventional holistic algorithm. And also the evaluation results show the 2 decade faster calculation than conventional sequential method using Pentium II processor. Using the design tool and newly developed remote power controlled L2 switch, experimental network is now under development. Using the proposed algorithm and tool, energy efficient IP/ Ethernet network can be realized. We can estimate that it can reduce about 38K ton CO2 par year.

Parallel transmission is one of the popular technique for realizing huge bandwidth. However, in parallel transmission, many frame order inversions will be occured when the delay difference among the routes is large, and TCP throughput will be decrease drastically. In this paper, a TCP over SCTP(Stream Contral Transmission Protocol) parallel trannsmission system is proposed. To achieve the end-to-end communication, TCP is used. To defeat the frame inversion, SCTP is used. Each TCP packet is encapsulated into SCTP packet at Gateways which are located between parallel transmission section implemented on the software switch to evaluate parallel transmission by using the grid application. A parallel route selection algorithm is also proposed and evaluated delay difference characteristics.

With the advance of ubiquitous society including IPv6, it is expected that everything will be connected to the network. Then, a ubiquitous grid networking environment(uGrid) has been proposed. In uGrid, everything is defined as ”Service-part” and several Service-Parts are combined to provide new service for users. We propose ”Service-Signaling” which is a new service provision based on signaling protocol. In proposed network, software program functions having IP address are defined as Service-Parts in addition to hardware devices. Service-Signaling is marked by both interconnecting some Service-Parts and providing the desired service for users. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposal, we experiment in interconnecting Service-Parts. In the experiment, RSVP-TE extension is employed.

As the high-speed network technologies developing, the traffic in the Internet increase rapidly. The network power consumption has come up to 10% of the worldwide energy consumption. In order to reduce this kind of consumption, we propose a novel method, which dynamically modifies the weights of links and makes traffic gather to certain links and then set some links of which the load no traffic Powe-Off. We also did much work in the network simulations, and the result shows that the method has a good effect in reducing the network power consumption.

We established P2MP (Point-to-MultiPoint) path on a Wide-Area-Ethernet for the next generation network we assumed. With this P2MP path provision, the connection service among multiple point will be achieved. The IETF published the standard for the GMPLS signaling of P2MP path establishment, “RFC4875”, but this standard does not specify the detail of node behavior. We implemented a prototype RSVP-TE based on RFC4875 and achieved P2MP path provision with GMPLS signaling. In this document, the detail of this implementation is reported.
