液圧が飽和蒸気圧より高い場合であっても、単純せん断流れにおける引張応力成分によりキャビテーションが発生することを実験的に確認した。水で満たしたガラス表面上に赤外線レパルスーザーを集束させ強い衝撃波を作り、衝撃波通過後ガラス表面に形成する強いせん断により発生したキャビテーションの可視化を行った。
