I am researching (long) 19th-century British literature and culture, with a particular emphasis on British Aestheticism in its global context. My current project investigates the historical connection between curiosity and cosmopolitan aestheticism in various 19th- and early 20th-century writers, including Walter Pater, J. A. Symonds, Oscar Wilde and Lafcadio Hearn, with the aim to contextualise them within a broader map of curiosity and the history of ideas.
I am a member of various international societies, such as The International Walter Pater Society, The British Association for Victorian Studies, The Bibliographical Society of London, The Private Libraries Association and The University of London Society of Bibliophiles, of which I served as a founding committee member (Treasurer) in 2016-18.
Within Japan, I have been serving as Secretary of The Victorian Studies Society of Japan (VSSJ) since April 2024, and also as Secretary of The Keio University Society of Bibliophiles for over a decade.
