    The Keio Museum Commons designs and implements participatory exhibitions that invite various forms of participation from visitors and the communities surrounding the university, focusing on widening people’s engagement with the university’s collections. This research note analyses the modalities of participation in the March 2023 exhibition “Who Forms Archaeological Sites – in What Manner?”, referring to discussions on participations in museums, as well as issues around Citizen Science and Public Humanities in Japan. This paper then addresses how exhibitions visualising different modalities of participation can function as effective platforms for opening up participation in cultural and academic activities to a wider audience.

    In 2021, the Keio Museum Commons hosted a participatory exhibition “Object Reading: Eight Perspectives on Reading Objects”. Its aims were to introduce the university’s various collections, to illustrate the diverse and different perspectives on artworks and resources depending on the field of expertise, and to create a space for visitors to participate in a research-based relationship with objects.
    This paper reviews the challenges of “Object Reading” as a participatory exhibition and examines the redesign of the exhibition. First, an overview of object-based learning (OBL), which was employed as a framework for participation, and its relation to previous practices at KeMCo is described. Next, the issues involved in implementing OBL in exhibitions are clarified, and the redesign of the exhibition is examined from two aspects: the tools used at the venue and the exhibition design. Finally, these considerations address the role of participatory exhibitions in university museums and their potential connection to Citizen Science.

    This study is perfomed by six groups from those universities which are different in land area of campus and with or without university museum. After three-year researches, it became evident that the art resource as education and research property in university is extant in various forms, not only as an art work. The category of art resource is open, ranging from hortus siccus to university building, even to intangible "memory" and so it can be utilized in various ways in education and research. On the other side, it cannot be denied that this kind of openess makes vague the definition of the art resource. In this respect its definition requires further researches.

    Pursuing the research subject "Examination and Construction of the International Basis of Butoh Studies," we have collected the information on the present situation and accumulation of Butoh research of foreign countries, and we have shared the basic information on the making of Butoh performance and our own situation on the academic achievements in Japan in the several international conferences. According to our effort of information sharing, Butoh researchers in Asia, Europe and America got recognized the making and development of Butoh performance, and we have been able to get the perspective of making Butoh researchers' network in international basis. In addition, we proposed one of the research methods through the process of discovering the new material and reconstructing Butoh performance in 1970.
