Hitomi Sano is a researcher at the Cyber Civilization Research Center, Keio Global Research Institute, Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. Her research engages with the theoretical underpinnings of digital civilization and the societal implementation of emerging technologies, with a particular emphasis on health and medicine.
She brings practical experience from global R&D in super intelligence and space exploration, and is affiliated with a historically significant institution that first established Japan’s Internet connectivity. These field-based engagements have informed her interests in the development of a distinct civilizational theory rooted in technological praxis.
In recent years, she has positioned the digital transformation of healthcare as a central axis of creating an information civilization. Following her tenure as a researcher at Keio University’s School of Medicine, she has worked to advance the diffusion of telemedicine and the public’s engagement with digital health paradigms.
Her work on comparative civilizations seeks to conceptualize and facilitate a transition toward a mature digital civilization, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the practical interplay between technology and societal structures.
