In Aikido, the use of a body motion called the “unbendable arm” has been proposed. We studied the difference between Ki (unbendable arm performance) and the muscle force in a flexing elbow joint from an electromyography (EMG) viewpoint. From our EMG study, we found that the EMG value
of the triceps brachii muscle was significantly lower in the unbending arm, and the EMG value of the deltoid muscle was significantly higher in experienced subjects. This EMG change might explain the subjects’ subjective observation that the “unbendable arm” was less difficult to resist than physical muscle force.

This paper describes the detection method of the anomalies in signals proposed by Okabe et al. based on their KM2O-Langevin framework; breakdown points of the stationarity can be detected to give the sign of anomalies.
The method was applied to the sound signals to monitor the state of a generator engine and showed its feasibility.

This study analyzes an end-shorting effect on electromagnetic flowmeters with short distance between connecting flanges around about 5D or more.
The Bevir's formulation is extended to a conducting pipe wall. Through the evaluation of the Green function satisfying the corresponding boundary conditions, the author's previous formula is reviced.

Thermocouples are used to measure high temperature in process and steel industries. To measure high temperature gas, thermocouples should be inserted deeply enough; commercial specification documents recommend at least 5D or more. This paper analyzes the effect of insertion length
on thermocouple outputs in high temperature gas measurement.
The theoretical evaluation was confirmed with experimental data in a heating furnace.
