Simultaneous measurements of fluctuating velocity and pressure in a turbulent mixing layer

A novel experimental technique to measure static pressure fluctuation was applied in order to evaluate velocity-pressure correlation in a turbulent mixing layer. The developing region of the mixing layer was found to be out of equilibrium state, indicating the oscillatory velocity fluctuation due to vortex shedding and remarkable production of turbulence. The contribution of pressure-related terms in the transport equation of the Reynolds stress is found to be well captured by the present method. A simple model for pressure diffusion by Lumley gave a satisfactory approximation when the flow approached the self-similar state. However, the analogy between pressure diffusion and turbulent diffusion becomes weaker when the flow exhibits characteristics which are not found in the equilibrium state. © 2006 Elsevier Inc. 乱流の数値予測法の比較検証を目的として、一様流中に置かれた非流線型物体周りの流れを渦法と非定常RANSで計算した。２次元の計算に関しては、計算精度と時間のいずれの面でも両者の間には大きな差は見られなかった。

分子動力学専用計算機MD-GRAPE2を渦法のシミュレーションに応用した。その際、誤差を最小に抑えるために関数表の作成を反復的に行った。計算速度は約５０倍加速されることを確認した。

静止流体中に、密度の低い流体塊をパルス状に鉛直方向に打ち出すことで発生する渦輪の運動について数値解析を行った。密度差による渦度の生成・散逸を表すバロクリニック項の作用と渦輪の到達距離について様々な条件で比較検討を行った。

一様流中に直列におかれた正方形断面を有する2本の角柱間の乱流場をPIVにより計測し、渦放出による周期的な圧力変動に基づく位相平均処理を行った。速度－圧力勾配の相関を調べ、RANSモデルにおける不備について考察した。

Turbulent flow measurements were conducted between two bluff bodies set in uniform flow in tandem arrangement. The Reynolds stress caused by periodic fluid motion was found excessively large compared with those related to turbulent fluctuation in entire flow field.

ダウンバーストの実験室モデルによる流れ場計測を行った。粒子画像流速系データに対し子午面上のアンサンブル平均を行い、乱れの生成、輸送に関する基礎的な知見を得た。実際の気象観測結果と良い一致を示した。

For realistic turbulent flow simulation, quantitative representation of turbulent flow dynamics is desired. In the present study, two-dimensional homogeneous isotropic turbulence is simulated by using grid-free vortex method to focus on the viscous dissipation process. The results are compared with those of spectral DNS. Two viscous diffusion models, i.e., core spreading model and Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) Laplacian model, are compared. For the former model, marge and addition process are incorporated to ensure uniform distribution of vortex elements. It is shown that the MPS Laplacian model is superior to the conventional core spreading model in terms of the decay rate of enstrophy and energy spectra. Computational time is remarkably reduced by using Fast Multipole Method (FMM) while retaining accuracy.
