  • My main research interest is immunometabolism especially in intestinal immunity in the pathophysiology of insulin resistance. My master’s thesis is the role of Foxo1 in Macrophage in glucose metabolism. I clarified that Foxo1 in macrophage induced Ccr2 expression and deteriorated Visceral Adipose Tissue (VAT) inflammation and systemic Insulin resistance (Kawano Y et al. Diabetes. 2012). After graduate school, he became interested in gut immunity in HFD induced insulin resistance, because he found that pro-inflammatory macrophages infiltrate into colon earlier than into VAT. He currently reported that colonic pro-inflammatory macrophage could play important roles in the mechanism of HFD induced insulin resistance (Kawano Y et al. Cell metabolism. 2016)
