• スペインの中でも独自の言語・歴史・文化を有するカタルーニャの近現代史を研究しています。特に、18世紀後半から19世紀に至る近代都市形成期のバルセローナ市において、都市空間、人々の社会的繋がり、生活形態、メンタリティがどのように変化したのか、変化しなかったのかを大きなテーマとして考えています。 現在は、カタルーニャが飛躍的な経済発展を遂げた18世紀後半から19世紀初頭における同市の手工業者の職業文化、家族と労働のあり方、ギルドの機能などを、絹産業の職人とその家族を対象に調べており、その中でもストッキング製造業者を主要な研究対象としています。

  Barcelona experienced rapid population and economic growth in the 18th century. As a result of this, the number of immigrants reached 100,000 in 1787, however little is known about this process due to the lack of sources. Previous studies have shown that a high proportion of craft apprentices came from outside the city, mainly from other regions of Catalonia, but they have not examined the reasons for their mobility, the situation of migrants in their places of origin or their literacy and numeracy. In addition, such studies have not raised these same questions about girls who migrated and married artisans.
  The aim of this study is two-fold: to identify the patterns of artisan migration that came to form part of the Barcelona craft’s sectors between 1770 and 1817 according to trade and gender, and to analyse certain socioeconomic characteristics of the im- migrants, such as geographical and socio-professional origins, age of spouses, literacy, and economic capacity.
  For this, we use private documentation, such as marriage contracts, and adopt a recent socioeconomic methodology that emphasizes the individual. Our database consists of 553 documents signed before notaries by individuals from the silk, metal, and leather sectors. These documents were located through a systematic study of the protocols of fifteen notaries. We focus on a particular segment of immigrant artisans with sufficient assets to justify the use of these agreements. As a result, the source does not provide information on individuals with less resources. However, this source provides relevant information in that it records personal information that cannot be found in other documents. Also, we have information on dowries –which indicates the levels of wealth and the economic contribution of women to the marriage– and the person providing them, which informs us about the conditions in which trade and capital was transferred.
  The findings show the variety of reasons that led these young men and women to migrate, the strategies they applied, and their life trajectories. Most boys were sons of peasants from districts near the city who migrated to learn a trade. Girls migrated to work or marry with a large dowry, and often came from more distant regions than boys; their contributions in terms of money, and sometimes of their trade, were essential in the marital economy. The study also reveals the disadvantages of most immigrants compared to those born in Barcelona, but also that some aspirants of masters came from well-established families. The level of literacy among the migrant artisans was high (especially in the silk sector) and even among some women. We believe that this rural-city and interurban mobility of young men and women, sometimes with capacity and money, contributed to the accumulation of human capital that laid the foundation for the future industrialization of the city.

  El objetivo de este artículo es rastrear las aportaciones de las mujeres como esposas, viudas e hijas de los maestros agremiados al negocio familiar de la manufactura sedera de Barcelona en los años indicados. Es impensable que ellas no participaran en las actividades productivas en los talleres de su esposo o de su padre, sin embargo, las mujeres en la producción manufacturera −después de la exclusión de las mujeres de la maestría gremial y del aprendizaje a principios de la edad moderna hasta su aparición como mano de obra barata en el sistema fabril− rara vez han sido objeto de estudios, tal vez porque la documentación oficial o gremial no dejan informaciones sobre ellas. Así, trataremos de buscar sus rastros en la documentación notarial −capítulos matrimoniales, testamentos e inventarios post-mortem−, o sea en los documentos que dejaron las mismas mujeres y sus esposos cuando se casaban o cuando se morían para definir las condiciones económicas del matrimonio, su derecho a las dotes o a la herencia familiar. Aunque son informaciones dispersas, trataremos de dar un análisis cualitativo para lograr a acercarnos a una imagen más completa de actividades y aportaciones de estas mujeres. En los análisis se contrastará el marco jurídico e institucional relacionado con la herencia y el matrimonio con las operaciones reales que se encuentran en las fuentes, con el fin de aclarar la realidad y la importancia de las diversas formas en que las mujeres, como hijas, esposas y viudas, contribuían a los negocios familiares, lo que no puede ser revelado sólo por un análisis institucional.

  This article compares the impact of the economic crisis of 1787-1832, including the war and the loss of colonial markets, on the silk industry in Barcelona and Manresa, the two main centres of silk production in eighteenth-century Catalonia. In particular, it explores how families adopted different strategies in adapting to the crisis. Some moved into different sectors, including the emerging cotton industry, sometimes accompanied by geographical mobility. Others innovated by manufacturing specialised products, such as ribbons and handkerchiefs, often taking advantage of technological innovations in the textile industry. The article also offers some reflections on the role of women in these adaptative strategies, as far as the limited evidence allows.

  　前近代スペインにおける人口移動の研究は、移民や出稼ぎ労働者に含まれていた女性の存在や、男性の移動によって後に残された女性の経済活動への注目など、ジェンダーの視点を取り入れることにより新たな進展を見せている。男性が中心だと考えられてきた長距離移民の中にも女性がいたことがわかり、「彼女たちも移動した」という認識が共有されるようになった。しかし、人口調査のデータの不完全さ、隠蔽、教区簿冊を利用した研究の限界から、研究対象は特定のケースに限られる。また、18世紀カタルーニャの人口について、1960年代にヴィラールが提起した成長の仮説を修正する成果が近年出されているが、同世紀におよそ３倍になったバルセローナ市の人口増加の実態はわかっていないことが多い。
  　同市への男性の流入については、ギルドの徒弟契約などの分析から、地域内での技術習得や労働、投資を目的とした活発な移動があったことがわかっている。これに対して、人口調査の男女比は男性と同程度の女性の流入があったことを示しているにもかかわらず、女性の移民は救貧院の記録などを通してわずかに考察されるのみだった。
  　本報告ではまず、絹産業者とその妻・寡婦の遺言書（計530人分）と結婚契約書（絹産業者と息子・娘の文書454件）の分析から、市外出身者の割合、出身地と父親の職業、労働経験と結婚年齢、識字率、結婚戦略、持参財の役割について考察する。次に、技術習得や持参金の増額を目的とした「パンのための移動」に加え、エリートの子女の結婚に伴う移動、富裕化した農家の子の資本を伴う移動、危機の状況下での親族を頼った移動などの事例を取り上げ、個別の事情を含めて検討する。史料の性格から、独身者や中途で帰郷した者は扱えないが、これまで見過ごされがちであった社会中間層の移動の実態に、ジェンダーの視点からの接近を試みる。
