<p>Internets of Things (IoT) applications and services have spread and are rapidly being deployed in the information services of the healthcare and financial industries, etc. However, the previous paper suggested that the current IoT services were individually developed, therefore, the open platform and architecture for the above IoT services of the healthcare industries should be deemed necessary. An open healthcare platform is expected to promote and implement the digital IT applications for healthcare communities efficiently. In this paper, we suggest that the open platform for healthcare related IoT services will be proposed and verified by the research initiative named “Open Healthcare Platform 2030 – OHP2030”. In addition, the vision for the OHP2030 research initiative is expressed.</p>

<p>This study investigates the solutions incorporated by the Architecture Board in global healthcare enterprise (GHE) to mitigate architecture risks especially in Digital IT areas while proposing and implementing the Adaptive Integrated EA framework, which can be applied in companies promoting IT strategy with Cloud/Mobile IT. The study revealed the distribution of solutions across the architecture domains in Enterprise Architecture covering applications and technologies with Cloud/Mobile IT/Digital IT to mitigate risks. An in-depth analysis of this distribution resulted in practical guidance for companies that consider Risk Management for Digital Transformation while starting up the Architecture Board in Enterprise Architecture with IT strategy covering Digital IT related elements.</p>

<p>This study proposes a visualization method for service ideas by considering the usage context based on various stakeholders’ experiences gained in tabletop fieldwork. The proposed method is characterized by “idea generation through making combinations” as well as “experience-sharing based on tabletop fieldwork”. We applied the proposed method to two workshops, and confirmed that a total of 118 people successfully visualized their ideas in a short time using the proposed method. This study details the procedure of visualization, and shows that the proposed method assists in developing master plans and future visions.</p>

<p>In this paper, Wanted Scenario Graph is proposed by extending Scenario Graph. The Scenario Graph is one of forced association measures and also one of structured mind mapping methods to generate potential scenarios for new products and services while visually organizing contextual information. Wanted Scenario Graph is a method for idea creation with consideration of wants into the scenario graph by adding the wants as a component of the graph, in order to discover novel ideas. We test 19 people with Wanted scenario graph for an identical theme, which is anything you like to have for safety and security in the future. It is described that Wanted Scenario Graph by individuals is useful when it is used for creating new ideas.</p>

<p>To assure that a system is safe, several tasks must be performed, resulting in the compilation of several safety-related documents. It is important that all the information related to safety is developed and maintained consistently. Because of retirements and changes to different department, it is difficult for engineers to pass on their knowledge. To ensure consistency throughout a project lifecycle notwithstanding program-level changes, a method to express the relationship between the safety information described in different documents is needed. Moreover, to address not only specifications but also bases for design formulated by a designer, design knowledge is accumulated together. We aim to improve the understanding of the safety design. In this study, we add two rules to the D-Case in order to achieve three goals. To verify the effectiveness of our method, these rules were applied to a rocket system.</p>

<p>Why do humans develop systems? The answer is clear: to realize system capabilities by utilizing these systems. Unless a system realizes the intended capability, it is useless, even if the system itself is perfect. Every system needs something to be realized. The problem is that we do not know how to deal with unexpected problems that prevent the realization of the system capability. Of course, many studies have been conducted on how to develop robust, fault tolerant systems, but there is no existing research on how to determine the system’s resilience in relation to its capability. The system capability can be realized by developing a resilient system. In this study, we developed a system ontology especially for a weather observation system. This ontology can describe the entire system by applying DODAF 2.0 and an enabler relationship. It allows us to determine all of the system entities and relationships. In addition, the ontology shows the system’s resilience by considering the realization of the system capability. This ontology was applied to a weather observation system to verify its effectiveness.</p>

<p>Since the year 2000, Enterprise Architecture has been the object of focus as a method for promoting an IT architecture that establishes consistency between corporate business and IT strategies, and it has been applied mostly in global corporations. On the other hand, with the recent progress in Mobile IT technology and Cloud computing, in the IT systems of global corporations, the shift from conventional on premise server-based IT systems to Cloud computing, such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Hybrid Cloud, and connected Mobile IT systems, has become more pronounced. In promoting Enterprise Architecture, EA based upon an approach compatible to the cutting-edge IT technologies of Mobile IT/Cloud computing will be required by global corporations. This paper elucidates key points for EA methods to respond to the cutting-edge IT technology that will be required in the future by conducting a comparative analysis of the support environments of Mobile IT elements and related Cloud computing technology in each EA framework currently used widely in many global corporations.</p>

<p>This paper describes the process and result of a student team solving societal issues in Japan using systems-oriented design approach, namely Scenario-based Amorphous Design. Scenario-based Amorphous Design is a systems design methodology that follows the Vee model of systems engineering with emphasis on requirements collection and generation. Using systems design thinking, the team attacked multiple societal issues in Japan-agricultural dependence on food import, aging farming population and increasing unemployment rate. As a solution, they proposed retrofitting closed-down school buildings in megalopolis with hydroponic system and operating the facilities by employing younger population. As verification, the student team was awarded with funds by winning 1st place in Entrepreneur Grand Prix and 2nd prize from 6th Campus Venture Grand Prix to establish a start-up company.</p>

<p>This paper is to provide the ex post analysis on graduate schools of System Design and Management (SDM), the brand-new type graduate schools for systems engineering education. By trailing historical background of system thinking, design thinking and management theory, the paper made it clear with phylogenic approach that graduate schools of SDM are built on well-balanced and hybrid integration of those three methodologies. And it also identified that these graduate schools are designed to manage teaching systemically and systemically problem-solving the issues of complex and interconnected system in the society.</p>

<p>Federated satellite systems (FSS) are a new class of space-based systems which emphasize a distributed architecture. New information exchanging functions among FSS members enable data transportation, storage, and processing as on-orbit services. As a system-of-systems, however there are significant technical and social barriers to designing a FSS. To mitigate these challenges, this paper develops a multi-stakeholder interactive simulation for use in future design activities. An FSS simulation interface is defined using the High Level Architecture to include orbital and surface assets and associated transmitters, receivers, and signals for communication. Sample simulators (federates) using World Wind and Orekit open source libraries are applied in a prototype simulation (federation). The application case studies a conceptual FSS using the International Space Station (ISS) as a service platform to serve Earth-observing customers in sun-synchronous orbits (SSO). Results identify emergent effects between FSS members including favorable ISS power conditions and potential service bottlenecks to serving SSO customers.</p>

<p>In this study, we propose a methodology for designing a Cause-Related Marketing (CRM) strategy using Wants Chain Analysis (WCA). To delineate the methodology, the authors introduce the concept of WCA to design CRM through a concrete and effective process in a standardized manner. The methodology can help create new types of concepts of CRM that are not only donation-based but also make relationships and supply substance or service. The authors validate the efficacy of a WCA-based CRM by conducting experiments during workshops held for value co-creation, in which various CRM stakeholders participated to create concrete designs for CRM.</p>

<p>As satellite technology has been highly advanced, it has become difficult to assure dependability of satellite systems. Currently, dependability of satellite systems is mainly supported by various risk analysis and verification. However, sometimes it is not clear why such analysis and verification result are required for dependability of the satellite systems. In particular for development of micro satellites, due to time and cost constraints, management of risk analysis and verification has been done in ad-hoc manner. This paper presents a strategic development of a micro satellite using assurance cases. Assurance case is a documented body of evidence that provides a convincing and valid argument that a system is adequately dependable for a given application in a given environment. In Europe, assurance cases are widely used as regulation in safety- critical areas such as defense, avionics, rails, etc. In this paper, we take "Discharge and Charge system of Hodoyoshi-3 microsatellite" as an example. We conduct a writing experiment of assurance cases for the system and report how the assurance cases are used for quality assurance of the system.</p>

<p>This paper evaluates the effects of component reuse by using a model that focuses on information transfer in software development projects. The cost models from earlier studies do not account for the difficulty of reuse, whereas the proposed information-centric model does consider the level of this difficulty. This paper has two main conclusions. First, component reuse does not always improve the productivity of a software development project. Second, component reuse is a valuable productivity tool if the following conditions are satisfied: (1) reuse results in simplification of project structures and (2) the level of difficulty of project elements is decreased from the reuse of components.</p>

<p>This chapter proposes application of framework of system design of a special zone for reconstruction of Fukushima Prefecture which suffered serious damages from the Great East Japan Earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The framework of system design used in this chapter is called the Interactive Social Design Model (ISDM). The ISDM is useful for aggregating stakeholders' requirements and values through the process of the interactive and bottom-up communication with stakeholders, and derivation of the optimal policy in quantitative approach. In this chapter, the optimal policy designed by the ISDM for the purpose of reconstruction of Fuku-shima is compared with the existing system of the special zones for reconstruction, in which local governments which suffered from the earthquake can choose support measures from the catalogue of policy measures designed by the central government of Japan.</p>

<p>We have a strong demand to design computer control safety system because crew stats to stay the international space station continuously, but there is no design framework for spacecraft computer control safety system. In this paper, we propose the architecture framework for spacecraft computer control safety system to guide a safety systems engineer to design computer controlled safety system. This framework is based on the general safety design process and NASA's computer safety requirements. The architecture framework can be proposed in accordance with the coming new IEEE1471 standard. This architecture framework can cover all design processes which are mandatory to be conducted to design system safety architecture. From this result, we suppose that this architecture framework reaches at least mandatory level.</p>

<p>According to the definition of "System" in various standards and handbooks, a systemdoes not necessarily have hardware-software components. This means that a social system without hardware-software elements is a kind of system. However, systems engineering techniques are not directly applied to define a solution of a non-technical social system's problems. In this paper, we propose a standard approach to find out multiple view points todescribe architecture, because the view points are one of the most important aspects of architectural design activities. And also we show one example that we applied our proposedapproach to non-technical social system: insurance system. It proved to be positive in applying architectural design technique with appropriate view points to design social system architecture.</p>
