狭ギャップ半導体ではたらく強いスピン軌道相互作用がスピントロニクスへの応用の可能性から注目されている。ヘテロ構造で作製される２次元電子系における人工ポテンシャルによるスピンホール効果、および量子ドット多端子系におけるスピン分極電流の生成の理論研究について講演をおこなった。また最近の話題として、トポロジカル量子コンピューターへの応用に向けたマヨラナ粒子の研究を紹介した。
