γ-Fe2O3を室温でプレスにより圧縮した場合も，シクロヘキサン中で摩砕した場合も，後の加熱によるα-Fe2O3への転移速度は増大するが，反応速度曲線の形状，したがって転移過程そのものについては，両者の間に著しい差異が認められた。その原因を，応力成分の違いによる，核生成-成長過程の変化により説明した。
